Embark on a captivating Nepal Tibet tour, starting with Kathmandu sightseeing before heading to Pokhara and Dhampus for mountain views. Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu +

Namaste Nepal - Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International airport our representative welcomes you and transfers you to your hotel in Kathmandu. After time to get refreshed the trek leader will meet the group and give you a detailed briefing on the tour, so that you are well prepared for the trip and any last-minute question will be answered.

Day 2: Sightseeing in Kathmandu (Swayambunath, Pashupatinath, Bodnath) +

Today we visit the most important sightseeing locations of Kathmandu. After breakfeast we drive first to Swayambunath, the "Monkey Temple" of Kathmandu, a buddhist pilgrimage place with a small stupa. After that we visit Kathmandu Durbar Square with its pagodes, the home of the living goddess Kumari.
Then we drive further to Pashupatinath. It is an important pilgrimage place for Hindus and a lot believers from India come there every week. There are lots of temples and at the shore of the holy Bagmati River, the believers burn there dead relatives. Then we go to the big stupa of Bodnath, which is also known as little Tibet. There we will see many tibetan people who come to pray and circle the stupa.

Day 3: Drive to Pokhara and free time for shopping at the lakeside or boatstrip on Phewa Lake +

After breakfast you drive about 7 hours to Pokhara. If you have good weather you have good views of Manaslu, Lamjung and the Annapurna range even from the bus. 
Pokhara is located next to Phewa Lake and offers a great view of the Himalaya. After having lunch you have free time to go shopping at the lakeside with its numerous small shops, or you can make a boatstrip.

Day 4: Sightseeing in Pokhara und drive to Dhampus (duration 1 1/2hrs) (optional hike). +

Dhampus offers great mountain views and  you can experience how honey, cheese and herbage are produced there
You have to wake up early in the morning and drive to the view point Sarangkot by taxi. From there you get an fantastic view of the mountains and enjoy the sunrise.
After breakfast you drive about 1 ½ hours to the small village Dhampus. If you like, you can only drive until Phedi and hike from there about 1 ½ hours to Dhampus.
If you have good weather, you get an haunting panoramic view of Machhaputre, the striking mountain of Pokhara, and the Annapurna range. 
In Dhampus you can also experience, how the local people produce honey, cheese or herbage.

Day 5: Back to Pokhara and Sightseeing +

After enjoying the sunrise in the morning and having breakfast, we drive back to Pokhara. If you want you can hike this way. From Pokhara we go to the other side of the lake by boat and hike about 200 meters up to the world peace pagoda. From there we get a great view of Pokhara down and the mountains in front. In the afternoon we visit the Mahendra Cave.

Day 6: Flight to Kathmandu and Sightseeing at Durbar Square and Thamel +

In the morning you fly with a small prop airliner about half an hour back to Kathmandu. The panoramic flight offers fantastic views of Langtang Ri, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Lamjung, the Annapurna range and green valleys below you. 
After arrival at your hotel and few time to rest, you visit Kathmandu Durbar Square, the home of the living goddess Kumari.
Then you spend time in the touristic quarter Thamel, a great place for shopping because you can get everything there.

Day 7: Flight to Lhasa (3650m) +

Tashi Delek and Welcome to the 'Roof of the World'! Our Tour leader picks you up at the hotel and flies with you to Lhasa. The flight from Nepal to Lhasa is considered one of the most beautiful air routes in the world, as it provides sweeping views of Everest (8848m), Kanchenjunga (8536m) and other Himalayan peaks. After arrival you will be transferred to hotel and the guide will give you more information about the hotels, the transportation in the next days and general information regarding the "City of Sunlight". Then you have free time to discover the holy city Lhasa on your own.

Day 8: Sightseeing in Lhasa (Potala Palace and Jokhang Temple with Barkhor Bazar) +

The highlight of the day is the visit of Potala palace – an UNESCO World Heritage celebrated for its priceless treasury of Buddhist artifacts and bejeweled tombs of the past of Dalai Lama. From there you can take great pictures of Lhasa's urban areas, because it is located 3650m above sea level. After that we visit Jokhang temple, which is in walking distance to Potala Palace. It is considered the spiritual center of Tibet. We see many pilgrims worship within or nearby the temple. Enter the first floor of the temple and absorb the religious atmosphere, you will see pilgrims are donating butter oil to keep the lights burning for the Buddha.
We also visit Barkhor Bazaar.

Day 9: Sightseeing in Lhasa (Sera and Ganden Monastery) +

Today we spend another day in Lhasa. The journey begins with a visit of Sera Monastery. Sera is an exceptional space; its white-washed walls and golden roofs speak of Tibetan Buddhism’s ancient wisdom and tranquility. Then we visit Ganden Monastery. It is located about 35km away from Lhasa on a cliff from where you get breathtaking views of the landscape. It is also the most important shrine of the Gelupka sect. Day 10: Lhasa - Gyantse +

We travel along Friendship Highway, passing Khamba La (4794 m), where we get the opportunity to appreciate majestic views of Yamdrok�]Tso Lake, a deep blue body of water renowned for its unique beauty. We also see Nazin Kang Sang glacier standing proud at 7252m. Ahead to the west, we come across another Karo La pass at 5045m. In the afternoon we enterthe town of Gyantse, a stunning example of a traditional Tibetan village filled with beautiful stone farmhouses.

Day 11: Gyantse - Xigatse and visit of Tashilunpo Monastery +

Gyantse Dzong and the Kumbum are the jewels of Gyantse. Gyantse Dzong is a historical fort built in the 14th century, and overlooks Gyantse and the surrounding Nyang Chu Valley. The Kumbum rises 35km above the town, and is crowned by a golden dome. The grounds boast a chorten (stupa ), several chapels and a stunning collection of Tibetan Buddhist murals, which inspired the name of the complex. The word ‘Kubum’ means 100,000 images in Tibetan. After exploring Gyantse, we take a 90 km drive to Shigatse. The group will stop at Shalu monastery along the way; the structure embodies the Han, Tibetan and Indian styles of architecture. Following a brief look at Shalu, the journey continues in Shigatse, the second largest city of Tibet. Tashilhunpo Monastery is the highlight of Shigatse, as it is one of the largest functioning monasteries in Tibet.

Day 12: Xigatse - Saga +

Today we drive through typical tibetan landscape to Saga (4600m)

Day 13: Drive from Saga to Manasarowar-Lake (4.560m) +

The drive from Saga to Manasarowar Lake offers beautiful views of the snowy mountains of the Himalaya. We can see for example Gurla Mandata (7.728m), while the street rises on the tibetan plateau. From Gurla La pass (4.590m) we can see the famous holy mountain Mt. Kailash the first time.
Then we arrive at Manasarowar Lake the highest fresh-water lake on earth with 300km².
We will spend the night next to the shore of the Lake.

Day 14: Acclimatization day at Manasarowar Lake +

Today we rest for acclimatization. During the day we visit the most beautiful places near Manasarowar Lake.

Day 15: Drive to Darchen +

Today we drive about 3 hours to Darchen, the start point of our trek around Mt. Kailash. From here we can see even until Nanda Devi, the highest mountain of India. If you want, you can make a short hike to Selung Monastery, which is located little bit above Darchen.

Day 16: Drive to Tarboche and hike to Dirapuk (5.050m) +

Today the 3-days hike around Mt. Kailash begins. Mt. Kailash is for 4 religions the most sacred place on earth. A pilgrimage to this mountains is for many believers the biggest goal in life.
After breakfast we drive about 13km to Tarboche, from where we start to hike. The way is not very difficult.

Day 17: Cross Drolma La Pass (5.630) and hike to Zutrulphuk (4.750m) +

Today is the most strenuous day of our tour because we have to cross Drolma La Pass which is  5630m high. The prayer flags fluttering in the wind will welcome you. After descending little bit, the way becomes easier.

Day 18: End of the trek and drive back to Manasarowar Lake +

Today the trek ends and we hike back to Darchen. From there we take the car to Manasarowar Lake where we have time to recover.

Day 19: Drive to Saga +

Today we drive about 5/6 hours to Saga

Day 20: Drive from Saga to Zhangmu +

Today we drive to the nepalese border. We cross smaller passes with  colourful prayer flags and nice views again and again. Before reaching the main road from Lhasa to Kathmandu, we cross Laling La (5.124m) and Tong La (5.124m)
 

Day 21: Back to Nepal and Drive to Kathmandu +

From Zhangmu we drive via Dhulikhel to Bhaktapur. The change of the landscape is dramatic. From the majestic tibetan plateau down to the gorges of Nepal. Only few hours away from Tibet, it seems like a dream.

Day 22: Sightseeing in Bhaktapur and Changunarayan +

After breakfast you explore the ancient kingdom Bhaktapur together with your guide. The gorgeous temples and artful woodcraft remind us of the past.
You visit the Durbar Square, the Dattatraya temple and some other places.  
Then you drive about 30 minutes to the Changunarayan temple. It is the oldest Hindu temple in Nepal and temple of god Vishnu.
Both Changunarayan and Bhaktapur are listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

Day 23: Departure +

Depending on your flight time, you can buy last souvenirs in the morning or just relax in your hotel. Then you will be transfered to the airport and fly back home.
